The Sturgeon season in BC typically begins in March and runs through November. During this time, anglers can find a variety of sturgeon, including white sturgeon. The white sturgeon can reach lengths of up to 12 feet and weigh up to 1200 pounds!
The best time to go sturgeon fishing is during high tide, when the fish are more active and easier to find. The Fraser River is the best spot for sturgeon fishing, as the river has a wide variety of species and sizes. The Fraser River is also home to the largest population of sturgeon in the world.
When out sturgeon fishing, it’s important to practice catch and release. Sturgeon are a vulnerable species and fishing regulations are in place to protect them. All sturgeon must be released immediately after being caught, as they are not suitable for consumption.
